The models and explosions and many of the other effects are all very obviously composited, the different parts of the scenes obviously stood out from one another, shots with live action actors and other effects where the worst shots due to uncanny acting.
Another element that irritated me was the way certain sounds were represented, this is entirely subjective to each viewer but i felt that certain sounds were represented wrong, furthermore when they represent the sound of the heatray firing, and had the heatray move in time to the music, it made it feel very cheesy, which is not what i would have expected for something that we are supposed to be scared of and intimidated by.
though my knowledge of 3D modeling and 3D animating isn't the greatest i understand that more digital effects are necessary in order to make the visuals more seamless.
